8 places to visit in Europe!

Although Europe is magical at any time of the year, September can be the perfect time to travel here!

September in Europe brings cooler temperatures, fewer visitors and cheaper prices, making this a perfect month to explore all that this region has to offer.

Up in Northern Europe or in the mountains, September brings fresh air and the start of the leaves on the trees, while Southern Europe still has long, warm days, ideal for relaxing on clean beaches.

Whether you want a few weekend city breaks, a mountain break or a few last days at the beach before winter sets in, September is the perfect time to take your European vacation.

Rome, Italy

There is no better time of year than September to visit the magical city of Rome, when the heat  and humidity of July and August are less felt. This season is perfect for visiting famous  destinations, such as the Vatican or the Colosseum, and there is no time of the year that would  not be suitable to enjoy Italian food.

Those with a little more time available to visit Italy should consider heading north, from Rome to Florence or Venice, or south, to Sorrento or Naples.

Split, Croatia

Split is an ideal choice for a September holiday, although it is often overlooked by visitors due to  the much more popular Croatian city, Dubrovnik. It is the second largest city in Croatia and is located along the beautiful Adriatic coast.

September is a great time to visit this city, as there will be more freshness along its historic streets  and fewer tourists coming to see it. For more beautiful views of the entire city and the bay, you  can climb the bell tower of St. Domnius Cathedral, which is the oldest Catholic cathedral in the  world.

Krakow, Poland

Krakow is a wonderful gem and is known as one of Europe's cheapest destinations to visit, as prices are surprisingly not too high here. This is a beautiful historic city, with a wonderful main market square located right in the center of the city.

In this square is the famous Gothic basilica of Saint Mary, built in the 14th century, as well as the  Hall of Fabrics, a Renaissance work built in the 16th century. In September, although the heat will  have subsided, fresh produce will still be available in local markets, making this a great time to visit the former capital of Poland.

Greek islands

September is considered the last month of the summer season in the Greek Islands, so it's the perfect time to take advantage of some good deals and avoid the scorching heat, along with the tourist crowds. With more than 200 islands, visitors to this region have a variety of choices.

Santorini is one of the most popular islands for first-timers to the region, and it's not hard to see why when you look at the stunning crater lake views, whitewashed buildings and black-sand beaches.

Corfu is also another popular island, with small villages, olive groves and some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. Sifnos, a lesser-known island, is an excellent choice for gastronomy, with its famous revithádas (roasted chickpeas) and mastello (lamb with red wine and fennel).

Budapest, Hungary

Budapest is another great city to visit in September when the temperatures have dropped, as many of the budget hotels do not have air conditioning. There are so many beautiful sights to  enjoy and activities to do in this extraordinary capital.

A unique opportunity to see the city is by boating along the river or visiting Margaret Island in the middle of the Danube.
